Jeff Phipps – President

Jeff PhippsJeff has served the Body of Christ in several Christian ministries before joining Camp Areté as Camp Director. In addition to serving as Vice President of Bible Framework Ministries since 2008, he served as Vice President of the Camp Areté board of directors and was appointed the president in 2014. Jeff is a founding member of West Houston Bible Church, pastored by Dr. Robert Dean. Jeff has shared his love for the mountains in backpacking trips and many mountain adventures with young adults, pastors, and Christian laymen over the years.

Following four years of active duty in the U.S. Army, 9th Cavalry “Dark Horse” Regiment, Jeff joined United Airlines (formerly Continental), where he has been blessed with a wonderful career in aviation.

In his spare time, he likes snow skiing, mountain biking, shooting, reading, cooking, and socializing with like-minded friends. Perhaps his favorite activity, apart from camp, is his bi-annual trips to Natal, Brazil to serve the Body of Christ there. Jeff’s favorite part of Camp Areté is connecting the next generation with the transformative power of God’s Word!

Larry Frost – Treasurer

Larry FrostLarry Frost served in the U.S. Army’s 1st Calvary Division as a helicopter door gunner in Viet Nam and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for Valor, Bronze Star, and 18 Air Medals. Upon returning from Viet Nam he earned a B.S. in Accounting and Finance from California State University Northridge. His career, spanning more than 37 years, includes both public accounting and private industry in the roles of Director of Finance of an international energy firm and Chief Financial Officer of US-based companies. As a member of the senior executive teams, he developed and directed the accounting and financial management functions, including international reporting packages for US, European, and South African operations, and carried out internal audits that ensured regulatory compliance and operational efficiency and accuracy.

In 2010, Larry co-founded CONVERJ LLC, a financial and accounting consulting practice specializing in California and Federal incentive tax studies. In addition, he consults for a large regional Southern California CPA firm on special projects such as the development of accounting and financial processes and procedures for all aspects of start-up companies, historical reconstruction and reconciliation of accounting records, and California and Federal incentive tax studies.

Additionally, Larry donates his time and expertise to various not-for-profit organizations such as Kids of Kilimanjaro, an organization currently feeding over 14,000 African school children per day, where he developed and implemented financial accountability processes and procedures. Larry serves as treasurer for two boards of directors, Biblical Framework Ministries and Camp Areté. He and wife Sherri have four grown children (and one grandchild) and enjoy skiing, mountain climbing, open-ocean kayaking, and most importantly, Bible study and using his experience to help organizations make God’s Word readily available.

David Roseland

David RoselandDavid Roseland is pastor of Preston City Bible Church and has served as a Camp Areté staff pastor and board member since its founding. David also designed and leads Camp Areté’s counselor training program.

A native of East Texas, David is a life-long student of categorical, exegetical Bible teaching. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering and was commissioned as an Armor Officer.

He served for five years in the Army’s 4th Infantry Division, enjoying an unusually long tenure as a platoon leader, first with tanks and then an Infantry Mortar platoon. In April 2003, David deployed with the 4th ID to Ba’Qubah, Iraq. He became a personnel officer and soon found himself paying Iraqi defense personnel their salaries, as well as dealing with local fuel apportioning among the villages and cities of the Diyala Province. While on tour in Iraq, David taught the Warhorse Bible Study in Ba’Qubah.

Upon returning to the U.S. in April 2004, David transitioned to civilian life as a seminary student. He graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary in May 2007 with a Masters of theology in Bible exposition.

David and his wife Krista were married in 2001 at West Point, NY, and now live in Eastern Connecticut with their children.
